Summary
After Will Byers returns to Hawkins after living in California for five years, his life turns upside down. Going back to his past life — a life he thought was long gone — comes with great struggle Will tries to convince everyone (himself included) it’s just some seasonal depression that’s going to wear off once fall is over.
Turns out it’s anything but a seasonal depression, as Will begins to feel like he’s going insane — feeling like he’s haunted by the ghost of his past, struggling to eat anything as food looks like poison, and with a good night’s sleep becoming a thing of the past.
And it certainly doesn’t help that Mike Wheeler keeps staring at him from across the hallway like a creep. He keeps staring instead of talking to Will, instead of making things right after ghosting him years ago.
Because despite once being inseparable, now Will sees Mike as nothing but a cowardly stranger, who didn’t have the guts to write him one last letter saying he didn’t want to keep in touch anymore. Or at least that’s Will’s point of view.

Summary
The phone slipped slightly from the pure sweat that drenched from Mike's palm. His hands were shaky and his right leg bounced as he sat on his bed in nothing but a t-shirt and boxers.
He looked down at the card in his hand.
"Orgasmic Oasis... Intense Connection Is A Dial Away."
Max had given him this card as a joke after he and Jane broke up from... sexual incompatibilities. It was meant to be a joke but here Mike was, sitting on the edge of his bed as his thumb hovered over the dial button.
He imagined, just for a moment, that this was all one big practical joke. He pictured Max on the other line laughing at him as the words "No way, you actually called?" fell from her lips.
He imagined again, for a moment shorter than the last, that a deep voice emerged on the other line and whispered all the things Mike desperately wanted to hear.
Max may have done this as a joke of some kind, but she had no idea just how much Mike actually needed this.
Mike clicked the dial button.
The phone rang.
Logline: Mike calls a phone sex operator and opens Pandora's box.

Summary
