Wilbur raised his hand lazily and swiped at the candlestick, not unlike a cat annoying its owner. Instead of the candlestick clattering to the ground like Wilbur anticipated, it titled on its axis like a lever and stayed there.
“What the—”
Before Wilbur could finish, the floor below him started to move.
On instinct, he grabbed the closest thing, the fireplace, and held on for dear life. The room spun around him— or was he spinning around the room? Wilbur closed his eyes to keep himself from throwing up. Just a few seconds later, the floor shuddered to a stop.
Wilbur cracked his eyes open and came face to face with a young boy.
