“One, my dear Louis,” Lestat said, pushing his chair behind to stand and looking at him mischievously, “One where nothing is quite what it seems.”
Louis returned the smile politely.
“Rather like yourself,” went on Lestat. “Running from something?”
“Excuse me?”
“Everyone who comes to Auvergne is,” Lestat fixed him with a knowing smile. “The mountains are excellent at keeping secrets.”
Louis has a university education and no experience in dealing with children. That doesn't stop him from traveling thousands of miles, to Auvergne, to become Claudia de Lioncourt's new live-in governor.
