“What?” Jaden bewilders, to which Rejoice only waves at him, an unreadable expression on his face.
Wemmbu draws back from where he’s leaning and props an eyebrow at Egg, gesturing toward where Rejoice is standing and the so-called torture. Egg only gives a sparing look back, one hand doing a neck cutting motion, before he stretches straighter too.
What the hell is going on in those workshops? Wemmbu thinks bemusedly, just as Rejoice’s voice cuts by again.

Summary
Wemmbu’s breath stumbles and he hesitates. Branching and coiling upwards, the vines spread, choking his voice box and lungs before any words can form. He can feel the lump grow, but he forces it down with an uneasy scorn, casualness failing. “Then I’ll deal with it.”
“By killing me?” Egg says weakly. Hands staining red the longer he crams his fists onto the crate, streaking brightly against the crowding snow of skin.

Egg looks at him, shoulders hunched, inhale slipping in as a restrained breath and exhale coming out as a sigh. He raises his arm again, forwarding it towards Wemmbu as some form of evidence to make his case. “You bit straight into my wrist like you were gonna take the whole arm with you, dude.”
“Well, okay, look.” Wemmbu defends, leveling his hands, “I usually kill something first. And then I bottle it. I don’t… I’m not used to—” he gestures vaguely between them and the marked hand in between their crannies, “alive, living donors.”
