A silence passes. Mike blinks, “Excuse me?”
“My wedding? You know. Those events with the flowers and the big white dresses where two people come together in holy matrimony and—” Lucas is already pretending to make out with the air when Mike focuses again.
“I know what a wedding is!”
It’s been 12 years since the world almost ended. Mike, now 28 and a reclusive author in New York, has become an expert in avoiding literally anything that would remind him of it. That would include Will Byers.
Except Lucas forgot to mention Mike and Will would be spending three nights sharing a hotel room.

Summary
“Will?” Mike whispers. “What—” he trails off. Dustin and the others are shouting over the walkie, all their voices overlapping in panic, but Mike’s only listening to Will.
“Use it on me.”
Will shifts on his knees, his grip on Mike’s arm tightening like he knows Mike is dying to run. He places the knife into Mike’s hand.
“At the military zone, I felt like I was burning when they hurt it. It has to work the other way around, right? It’s a hivemind. If you hurt me, it should weaken all of them.”
Or: in a moment of panic, Will convinces Mike to hurt him to save the Party. In another moment of panic, Mike kisses him to keep him conscious.

Reflexively, Till kicks upward, and Ivan crumbles, a knee hitting the center of his stomach as Till tries scrambling away. More rebels are running for their vehicles. He needs to get to his bike. He needs to get out.
“Till,” Ivan chokes out, voice hoarse from the agony of being kicked straight in the stomach.
Till’s throat closes in on itself. Ivan’s voice. It’s not a hallucination.
Nearly two years after being saved from the fire, Till runs into someone on a rebel mission with the same face of the person who has done nothing but haunt him.
For the life of him, he can't let himself believe that Ivan is alive. Not while he's still hallucinating a version of him that keeps him from being able to speak.

Will coughs violently when the lack of oxygen creates a ringing in his ears, and then he’s leaning forward and gagging. He fully expects to see a squirming veiny worm hit the sink like one had two years ago after his encounter with the Upside Down, but instead, he’s met with petals.
Will watches in more fascination than horror as they slowly float down to the sink.
Or the one where Mike keeps falling asleep, Will can’t stop hacking up flowers, and everyone is suddenly great at giving advice.

Will plays with his own fingers. Mike can't stop looking at them. “What? Mike, why? I’ll be okay here.”
“It’s just one night,” Mike says, a little loudly, a little desperate.
“Okay,” Will replies, a little loudly, also a little desperate, a little too fast like he had been meaning to say yes the entire time. “Yeah… Yeah, I’ll stay over.”
And now they’re here. Both sitting on Mike’s bed with the most crushing tension hanging over them. Mike wants to die in it.

Reki and Langa's ride back home with the crew after Langa's win against Adam was shaky, and numbing, and... surreal. There was a strange post-adrenaline rush that made Reki's mind tired, but he couldn't stop wondering about the way Langa had held onto him after his win.
Not this again. Self-doubt was still crushing his chest, and Reki couldn't help but wonder. Would Langa still look at him like this after his adrenaline wears off? Or is he only the type of person that can be wanted when your heart is beating too fast for you to think?
