And the look on Momma’s face when he says he has a delivery, or has to grab the coaches because they’re all leaving soon, him included, makes him dizzy with happiness.

Hugi hasn’t been dead nearly as long as they were alive.
And not that they’re dead now, exactly, because the act of having died doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re still dead—dead is a present state of the body, rather than a thing that happened in the past, which is to say the event of death, and usually those two do go hand in hand but not always, as proven by Hugi’s case.
Anyway. In the time since her death, time in which she is not exactly dead but perhaps something not quite alive, Hugi has come to realize that her pre-death interest in death was not exactly the norm.
