They may not be physically touching, but they’re so close to it and he’s looking at her like she’s a meal (which should be concerning because she knows he literally eats people) and she really, really wishes they were touching right now. “Because I can be nice. Coop’s heart thrashed unpleasantly. That role had been his first glimpse into what happened when a good man was pushed too far. “Naw, not that one.”
“Please,” Lucy begged. “It’s my dad’s—it’s my favourite.”
He didn’t like what she’d been about to say. “No,” he said, more firmly. Just the memory of that film felt sour. It had been the beginning of the end for the version of Cooper Howard that believed in what he stood for, believed in Vault-Tec and in his wife.
