“I’m not that either,” Genesis pointed out, placing his coffee cup on the side. “I could see myself loving you, do you realise that? I can feel it rising, this all encompassing feeling, this emotion I was so sure I would never feel again. Things are slow because I am trying not to just jump in without looking where I might land.”
Genesis and Cloud negoatiate their relationship and sleeping arrangements.

“Not everything is about Sephiroth!” Genesis insisted irritably, just in time for the man’s arrival to be announced on the deck. Angeal watched as his friend pointed to the gathering crowd of SOLDIER and infantrymen. “I don’t know how he did that, but he did it on purpose!”
“Sure,” Angeal said flatly. “Organised his arrival with a multitude of people and adjusted his entire busy schedule just to do it in a way that would annoy you.”
“Exactly,” Genesis said, pushing himself off his crate and landing on his feet. “The nerve of him, truly.”
An unlikely friendship strikes up between Sephiroth and two new SOLDIER Third Classes.

“I’m not going to put you through a wall,” Sephiroth said, but of course, the moment he said it, he could picture it clearly, pressing him against the dank concrete while being buried so deep inside him that he was breathless, his tongue all over his still red, swollen lips –
In the silence of the stairwell, the noise that slipped from his traitorous throat practically echoed off the walls. There was enough heat in his cheeks that he felt like a furnace suddenly, his heart slamming so hard that he was absolutely sure he was going to have a cardiac event any moment now.
Especially given what was happening further down.
“Hello, SOLDIER.” Genesis should rethink the kitten comment if he was going to purr like that. “If that was what you wanted, you could have just said so.”
In which Sephiroth discovers some new things about himself, one of them being that apparently he has some new maintenance requirements.

“Remind me to procure you some appropriate clothing,” Genesis said, jumping down to meet her. It was different for a SOLDIER, gravity meant little to them where Aerith seemed to make an enemy of it several times a week.
“For climbing into caves?” Aerith said, taking his offered hand. “Do you foresee a lot of this in my future?”
“Much of what was left of the Cetran civilisation is likely buried,” Genesis pointed out. “Frequent spelunking could be in your future. I’d prefer you had some decent armour regardless. You never know when you’re going to have to use it.”
“I guess it wouldn’t hurt,” Aerith agreed.
Strange to think of the contrast between her and the other ‘lab grown’ resident of the house. Sephiroth had always been someone who relied heavily on micro expressions and body codes unless you managed to really piss him off as few people (Genesis notwithstanding) could. Aerith presented her emotions like an open book.
Maybe it was another familial parallel between them – wielded correctly, the truth was a better armour than any lie.

Summary
When Shinra's Jenova Project codename S-01 is lost in a freak weather accident on the way to the front, Shinra scrambles to find out where he went.
On an island in the Mideel area, Sephiroth washes up on shore. Unsure of where he is or what to do now, he gets his first taste of life outside of Shinra's purview in the small village and isn't sure he wants to go back. The only problem is his only help are two boys without any discretion or military training and a strange voice that calls to him in his dreams.
The Stranger Things inspired AU no one asked for.

“You’re shilling for the company because they want the next generation of sociopathic white coats, SOLDIERs and cannon fodder – excuse me, public security forces. People who are interested will come from the media campaign and those who don’t will not be convinced by seeing you in the flesh. You’re a SOLDIER, not a mythical creature who needs to be seen to be believed.”
“I’m supposed to convince them I have something of value to say,” Sephiroth explained. “A difficult proposition when they often come up to my nose in an attempt to see if my eyes are ‘real’. My peculiar appearance can cause a considerable amount of problems.”
“It’s not peculiar,” Angeal said, placing a hand out onto Sephiroth’s forearm. “It’s just different.”
“It absolutely is peculiar,” Genesis snorted.
“Genesis,” Angeal’s tone lowered enough that he wondered if his best friend would have made a decent baritone in another life.
“You sound like your mother when you do that,” Genesis informed him.
In which Sephiroth is feeling self conscious about how he's percieved by others and Genesis is having none of it.

Lestat scrunched up his nose and opened one of his eyes, still bleary from his almost slumber. “I know I’m not as educated as you but I know where babies come from,” he said.
“I must assure you that no babies will come from what we just did, but I don't think you uneducated in that kind of way.” Nicolas found himself smiling unbidden. “You do have quite a reputation, monsieur.”
Lestat rolled over, perhaps to look at him better in the low light. “Is it a good reputation?”
“For the right person, yes.” Nicolas replied. “But for most, it borders on notorious.”

Five times Nicki and Bianca met across the 20th Century and parted, and the one time they chose to leave together.

“Are you sure he wants to teach me?” Armand’s voice brought Lestat out of his spiral. Still standing by the stage, tracking Nicki’s movements as if he may intervene at any moment and do what, Lestat did not know. “He’s not part of this little troupe you’re designing.”
“For one night only, yes, I think he’ll indulge me because he feels badly about leaving me,” Nicolas’ voice was so matter of fact and it hurt more to hear the lack of emotion to it. “As if he didn’t leave me the moment he was absconded from our bed, as if he didn’t do it again when he chose to lie and make me doubt myself, as if he hasn’t been leaving me with every fucking success he’s had. He’ll give you tonight because I’m saying that he will and because then he can pretend none of it is true like a good little monster.”
Lestat tries to say goodbye on better terms and it goes about as well as you might expect.

“You better put that out before we go inside,” Angeal gestured to the cigarette that Genesis had been nursing for the last ten minutes. “You’ll set off the smoke alarm.”
“I would if the wires in it were still connected,” Genesis replied. The way he rolled his tongue over his lips, wetting them as gestured with the lit stick to Angeal. “Don’t you have a puppy to mother?”
“Genesis, you can’t disable your smoke alarms!” Angeal placed the damp towel over the smouldering bricks from their disposable barbecue. “What if there’s a fire?”
“If there’s a fire in there, it’s much more likely Genesis is the one who started it.”
A rooftop barbecue to celebrate moving house takes a turn when Genesis decides to see if Sephiroth enjoys smoking.

“You’ve gone soft in your old age,” Nicolas replied. “It wouldn’t have stopped you before.”
“It wasn’t the same,” Armand snapped at him. “I didn’t love you.”
Armand and Nicolas vs. the decision on whether to go and see a catatonic Lestat and the rest of the coven gathered together.

His expression didn’t look warm. If anything, it looked as if he were admitting some terrible atrocity. “Yes,” Nicki said, lifting his chin. “And it’s terrible. I think I could have lived what was left of my miserable life destitute and dreary if not for the fact I do believe in you, in that dizzying hope that only you possess.”
After partying the night away with the troupe, Lestat and Nicki talk about destiny and hope. -

“I don’t need to feed every night at my age,” Armand explained. “Little drinks will work until we get to land trips.”
“From me?” Damn it, he hadn’t meant that to sound so desperate. The idea of Armand leaving people around with his teeth marks in their necks made him feel oddly possessive. At least if they were corpses, they paid a price for it.
“I always heal other people,” Armand clambered up onto the ridiculous bed with him, letting their knees touch. “But you like it. You like wearing me.”
Daniel and Armand take a cruise and Daniel tries to understand the practicalities of being the boy in Vacationing with the Vampire.

Bianca comes to stay at Trinity Gate to try and rebuild her life after losing her fledgling. Playing with identity and reliving the past while enjoying the future ensues.

“This isn’t something you can give me,” Armand replied. Ouch. Some of it must have registered because Armand blinks, those huge eyes of him seeming to process something that Daniel couldn’t fathom. “I want a child.”

Trying to start a family is a bit more complicated when you're a 500 year old vampire, but let's just go with it.
