Nene tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep, unable to feel comfortable enough to. The events still lingered in her mind, making her unable to succumb. The diva looked over at Rui, who was asleep, comfortable and peaceful. She was envious of him, able to fall asleep after everything that had happened.
Was that just another day in the life of Rui Kamishiro? Nene chuckled internally at the thought.
However, when she laid back down and faced the ceiling, she felt a hand in hers; colder than hers, yet comforting. Was he awake?
“I know you’re awake,” he whispered, startling her. “But that’s alright.”
“You were awake the whole time?” Nene replied.
“No, but I had a feeling that you were.”

During a sleepless night, Nene finds herself weighed down by worries she can’t shake. With Rui’s quiet support, she’s reminded of the comfort found in their friendship, and the strength of the bonds that keep them together.

Nene hated getting sick.
She hated having to blow her nose every five seconds—loud, unglamorous honks she tried to smother in tissues, only for her ears to ring afterward. She hated feeling sticky from the fever-sweat clinging to her back, even though she’d changed shirts twice already. She hated how her bangs stuck to her forehead, and how any attempt to fix them made her arms feel like wet noodles.
Sure, lying in her beanbag chair wrapped in a blanket like an ailing gremlin and playing games uninterrupted was nice… but getting sick right after her big break as Princess Heart?
Not fair. Not even close.

Stuck with a sore throat and a bad mood, Nene wants to declare the day a total disaster. Luckily, Rui has a secret weapon: dessert, warmth, and the quiet kind of affection that makes even sick days feel cozy.
