Summary
Dan was not the sort of person who believed in things he had no reason to, like magic, or himself. He preferred not to hope, for one thing. He’d been let down too many times for that. Phil, on the other hand, seem delighted by anything that couldn’t possibly exist. Dan couldn’t understand it, nor could he tell apart the things that Phil genuinely believed in and those he just believed in because he thought it was funny. He wasn’t sure Phil knew himself. He found it equal parts infuriating and charming - that was how he generally felt about Phil, most of the time.
