Summary
Ben and Ricky have spent their senior year being the faces of their high schools’ rivalry as the star strikers of their respective teams. After a post-game party leaves Ben in a dark place, he drops the team mid season. Ricky shines in the spotlight with the only real competition gone and lands a spot on a NCAA Class 1 Exy team. But he misses the chase, the thrill, of someone on his level. When Ricky’s new team is desperate for another striker for the 2007-2008 season, he knows just the player to recruit. The only question is, can they work together to bring the team to finals without killing each other?

"Isn't Exy, like... a really gay sport?" Nicole asked.
"What?"
"I mean—I've never played, but it's kind of known for being really gay," Nicole explained with a teasing tone. She added a completely unnecessary and dramatic limp wrist as she continued. "Like, flamboyantly homosexual."
"No it is not!" Kevin crossed his arms tight over his chest, settling his glare toward Nicole. "Exy's absolutely straight."
Andrea stopped tapping her fingers against her chair and looked away from Nell for the first time in the past three minutes. With the heavy weight of her gaze lifted, Nell felt like she could breathe again.
"I bet it's about as straight as you are, Kev."
