“Says the cunt who let the door open for the world to see.”
“No.” Simons pushes himself forward, blowing smoke to the narrow space between them. He still has that dopey smile on his face and Wilbur starts wondering if the smack really is that good, if he should try a proper dose to see what the deal is about. “People might think we’ve shagged.”

Wilbur choked on air for a moment, eyes widening at the thought of Tommy dating one of his bandmates or himself. It just didn’t seem feasible in the slightest. Phil must’ve not noticed his distress, because he continued on.
“He seems just like any other guy, so why is Tommy so in love with him?”
‘Gareth isn’t just any other guy,’ Wilbur felt the need to rebuke, the urge to defend, though he didn’t actually say it aloud. ‘He’s kind and funny and a lyrical genius. He’s nothing but nice and probably the most loving partner. I can see why Tommy is in love with him, I just don’t see why he would have even the slightest amount of interest in Tommy.’
Or;
For years, Wilbur has been enamored with his favorite band, Los Campesinos!, and especially with their lead singer, Gareth. When he gets the chance to meet Gareth in person, he drags Tommy along with him for support, unaware of the chain events this meeting will set off, leading to his own misery.

Summary
There’s plenty of reasons why Wilbur should want Tommy as far away from him as possible, but he’s oddly calm considering the circumstances. If he wasn't in a car park chain smoking cigarettes with a bruise covering half of his face, you could almost say he looks peaceful.

Or, Tommy and Wilbur have a friends with benefits arrangement, but after a few poor decisions, their relationship is exposed. It's not ideal having a photo of you kissing your best friend being spread around the internet, but the situation isn't completely impossible to navigate. They have each other, that's all they need, right?
