Summary
‘What’s wrong?’
‘It’s stupid.’
‘Nothing regarding you is.’ It’s verging on dangerous honesty Bruce customarily goes to great lengths to avoid, but the occasion calls for it. Dick’s eyes snap up to him, two moons of misplaced worship.
‘I just—’ he mutters, ‘I don’t know how to swim.’

Summary
Harrington shoves day-oily hair out of his face, tugging at the end. The new year’s not three hours in. It’s already getting old. ‘You weren’t there,’ he says. The mantra of the day, or—the resolution, maybe.
‘To get a front-row seat to the show?’
‘She’s the one who kissed—’
‘Would you have kissed me instead? If I’d been there?’
‘Would you have let me?’

Summary
Hargrove blinks again and—looks at him. He frowns in a settled, unlost way, like Steve’s what’s weird in this picture. His lungs are working overtime, chest expanding and deflating under his bloodbath of a shirt. That rules out walking corpse, at least. Steve sighs, relieved. Come-back-from-the-dead beats dead-alive, every time.
or; Billy comes back. Mostly.

Summary
‘What else can you do?’
Billy tries to pour all his exasperation into the smile he flashes, make it undeniably feral. Judging from the outstanding lack of flinching from Harrington, he’s something less than successful. ‘Wouldn’t you like to know?’
‘I would, I genuinely would,’ Harrington says, in the most punchable way conceivable. ‘How long has this been—is it since you came back?’
‘Get the fuck out of my way.’
Realization dawns on Harrington’s face. ‘You don’t know how to control it, do you?’
or; Billy has powers. Steve is trying to help, sort of. Things get messy.
