Sakusa pauses. “You’re an idiot. I can see him doing either very well or very poorly with that. How long would he be staying for?”
Atsumu groans. “I know. Just like. A week.”
“Just call him. Don’t tell him you’re supposed to be dating.”
“Then how are we supposed to be a better couple than Osamu and Akaashi?”
“Miya.” Sakusa’s exasperation is passing into dangerous levels. “Just flirt with him like you always do; you’ll be fine.”

Summary
Relationships are a risk, one of the biggest ones you can ever take. They require being vulnerable, opening yourself up to the possibility of being hurt and betrayed, and taking a chance on something that might not work out. Akaashi knows what it’s like to take a risk and for it to not work out. He knows how it feels to be betrayed by people he thought he could trust.
Nothing is worth risking that happening again.
He and Miya Osamu wouldn’t work out anyways.

Yuji remembers that offhanded aside vividly, and the way his grandfather had said it even moreso – sitting around after dinner, empty bowls of miso soup in front of them both. Takes it to heart, really. Years later, he can still recall that scene and the swell of pride in his chest at his grandfather’s words, and the idea it had planted in his thirteen-year-old-mind – good food equals girlfriend.
Perhaps an oversimplification, but ample cause for an impressionable young mind with no shortage of excuses to practice his kitchen skills to put a little more effort into dinner than he has to. After all, it’s probably going to win him the love of his life one day. It’s gotta work – Grandpa said it would, and Grandpa has a grandkid, which means he had a kid, which means that he had to have had game sometime, and Yuji is smart enough to know that when someone with a good track record gives you advice, you take it and run with it.
Itadori Yuji puts his cooking skills to good use through the years, mostly for reasons involving Kugisaki Nobara.

Nobara shoots Yuji a dirty look out of the corner of her eye. “Am I Siri now?”
“Sure.” He laughs, reaching over to ruffle her hair, and she wants to complain but she wants to melt, too, at the simple warmth of the gesture. She hadn’t realized she could miss things when she was unconscious, but she finds herself glad to rediscover the forgotten perks that come with being alive even so. “Kugisiri. ‘s got a nice ring to it.”
Yuji's been asking strange questions, and Nobara can't quite figure out why.
