    Summary

Someday, lying in the void, they are laughing. The experience feels wholly unnatural. Death is taking his face in her hands and beaming. He is waiting upon the silent platform and reciting her words so he cannot forget them.

You are not finished yet. Life will find you again.

    or

In his death, in the void, and on a train platform, Wilbur considers.

    Summary

Gazing over at Quackity, he can't help but wonder why they are both still choosing to lie here. This room is not theirs to stay in, and the sounds of people chattering downstairs are muffled only by the shut door. What a miracle nobody's walked in on them, although they wouldn't see much right now; just two strangers staring up into the same skylight.

Parties have never been Wilbur's favourite places, and yet he finds himself their frequenter anyways. Occasionally, someone worth it is waiting for him there.

    Summary

Looking at him now, Wilbur sees the 19-year old he was up against during the elections. He sees the same guy throwing petty insults at him.

This time, he doesn't fight the smile. The scene in front of him is too perfect.

    or,
Wilbur and Quackity talk. For one last time.

    Summary

Wilbur opens his eyes in Limbo. The first thing he thinks is damn, it didn’t work.

What he hasn’t noticed, yet, is that he is not surrounded by spruce wood but instead concrete and the ashy, hot air of a train station. He breathes in and feels like he’s choking, the air is so acrid and warm. He coughs, then finally lifts his head and takes in the surroundings properly.

“Oh,” he says. His voice echoes. There is no response—he seems to be utterly alone.

(a study of wilbur's time in limbo.)

    Summary

The story does not truly start here.

No fairytales ever do– no, stories like these often begin in simpler places. Simpler stories, ones that belong to the people and not the kings. Stories that are told around campfires, told around the butter churn and whispered around hearths. Stories told to children as they’re tucked into bed, gentle warm hands soothing their brows and speaking with low tones as they relay the stories of grandeur and magic. Fairytales are often piled upon– one magic spell becomes two. A mother changes the prince’s name to her own dear son. Tommy was once told stories like these.

(or, the high-fantasy royalty AU starring Tommyinnit as one child king, the Empire as his opponent, and so many politics.)
