He peered inside at the obscenely bared viscera under the raised lid, wondered at the way the hammers danced and the strings shook. Then, he curled his fingers over the edge of the open instrument, and suddenly he knew the truth.
It was not just the strings; the whole instrument vibrated. And when he touched it, the vibration rattled in his own bones. Sympathetic resonance.

In these dreams, a prince bearing Spock's likeness claims they are destined mates, leaving Kirk haunted by how real everything feels.
