But no. There is a man on the floor, naked and covered in dirt and awfully familiar.
“Josh?” Jordan whispers, because he does not trust his voice to be any louder for fear of it breaking on the one syllable name. The man flinches and his head snaps around to stare at Jordan.

The white horse stumbles over a rock.
Clancy flinches back at the sudden movement. They’ve moved beyond the dead river by now, walking through deserted fields of tall grass. His legs ache, he wishes he could stop to take a breath.
The horse stumbles again and Clancy watches in surprise as Nico sends his right leg over the saddle and climbs down from the horse’s back. The horse stumbles again like his body had forgotten there was a person on his back and his balance is suddenly thrown off by the empty saddle straddling him.
OR what if Nico's white horse is another one of his seizing victims?

Summary
There is a sea of trees behind Josh’s backyard, and there is nothing special about them. Sometimes, when Josh passes by a window, he would stop and stare at the trees with longing. Aching for simpler times. He rarely sees any kind of animals behind the leaves, Josh can count on one hand the amount of times he’s caught the tail of a deer, the fur of a wild cat. The birds sing sometimes, but usually, the woods stand silently, watching and engulfing the house like a silent guardian.
There is nothing strange about the woods. Josh has always repeated this exact sentence both to himself and to his brother. At night, lamptorch in their freezing hands and coats zipped up to their chins, Josh whispered like a mantra; “There is nothing strange about the woods.”

Viktor still does not speak. Jayce groans. “Come on! Loosen up a bit, V!” He looks at his work again, trying to concentrate. “Actually, nevermind. I'm sure I can find the answer myself, no need for your help.” Only silence echoes his words, Jayce rolls his eyes.
