Summary
Lie to yourself all you like, Ivankov tells him - imperious, dismissive - but you do that boy's memory a disservice by denying him. All you've done since I got here is mope and sigh. Don't dishonour him by pretending he meant nothing.
Something ugly stirs in his chest. A monster in the maelstrom of his sorrow. He wants to swim away from this awful place. To turn his back on all of it. The confusion and the realisation and the grief.
Don't talk about him like you knew him, he says, through gritted teeth.
I was there, Ivankov tells him. At Marineford. I watched him die.

Summary
“...Don’t,” Paulie breathes quietly to himself. He leans into the support of the door and screws his eyes shut. Bangs his head on the wood in punishment, for even considering doing this. “Don’t,” he begs. Don’t do this here of all places, don’t think about him again, don’t don’t don’t.
But when his eyes flutter back open, they’re already locked on the quivering mouth in the mirror. There is no indecision in the flushed cheeks bookmarking the splash of purple. The chest heaving beneath the reflection’s open jacket with anticipation is confident in what Paulie’s next action will be, the pitched tent at the front of denim pants mirrored back at him eager.
Don’t, Paulie wants to demand of himself. But instead his brain stumbles and compromises, don’t let anyone hear.

Summary
"Why are you going to the couch?"
He risks a glance back over his shoulder. Iceburg's brows are furrowed again, a frown on his face, and the flush that takes over Paulie's face this time is embarrassment, is guilt.
"I just assumed," he says, "that you wouldn't want to... share."
Lucci never had.

Summary
Koito blinked at the sharpness. Then, instead of recoiling, he leaned closer, elbows on his knees, eyes bright and intent. “Tell me something anyway.”
Tsukishima stared at the boy sitting opposite him. With ink on the side of his hand and a Russian primer open upside down, the picture of a young line not to be crossed, he should have said No. Instead, he relented, racking his brain for a suitable enough story to tell.

Summary
Roronoa's clothes are almost completely darkened with sweat, and Smoker can see the stuttering rise and fall of his chest, as if he's having trouble catching his breath. Brief sympathy ripples in his mind at the memory of it. At least then he had Hina. Here, Roronoa only has his enemy.
During a fight, Zoro trips into a patch of plants. Smoker helps him through its effects.

Summary
“Oh hell no,” Sanji chokes, pushing off his hands. His knees sink into the plant, which reacts swiftly to the movement—he’s only able to clear his head and arms from the plant’s grasp before it cinches tight around his ribs. He tries pushing against the outside of the plant, leverage to pull himself out, but the ridges of the leafy petals dig into his skin and lock against each other tighter.
A loud laugh echoes amongst the trees.“Quite the predicament you’re in, hm?”

Summary
All of this shit to prove himself, and Crocodile’s resolve still crumbled in the end. He was a weak, weak man. Weak enough to betray his own decisions in a matter of seconds. Weak enough to give in to what Doflamingo wanted just because it happened to mirror his own body’s needs.
Fuck. He should never have followed him to this goddamned island. He should never have initiated this. He should have known that everything in this fucking universe unequivocally, irremediably goes Doflamingo’s way. Fortune is not blind. God has a favorite. And awful fucking taste at that.

Zeke Yeager recognizes a lot of things. He recognizes he should’ve opened a RothIRA when he was twenty, probably should’ve skipped on that cheesy bagel this morning, and perhaps even not let his baby brother Eren continuously climb into his bed.

Summary
"This is training," Caesar said. "It's a challenge. If you can control your breathing while you're feeling pleasure, you can do it while you're in a fight."
Caesar could feign disinterest all he wanted — there was only one thought reflected in his eyes. He wanted to ruin Joseph.
Which was great, because Joseph was dying to be ruined by him.In which Hamon training is a (bad) excuse, Joseph doesn't know how to shut up, and Caesar knows just how to put him in his place.

Summary
Law had expected to go hungry. Hell, he’d practically provoked Dellinger so Doflamingo would have an excuse to punish Law, strike him and string him up in a cell. He had expected torture, unimaginable pain. Anger that had curdled and festered over time poured down his throat until he drowned.
Instead, the Warlord is offering to feed Law by his own hand.
This saccharine suffocation is nothing he could have prepared for; the shame of being reduced to a pet, a doll, a belonging under Doflamingo’s care.
He doesn’t know how to be.
Law has a plan, he does.
