Ue craned his neck against the floor, pushing his head into a ridiculous angle to look back at Mafuyu. "We can go whenever. Doesn't have to be for my birthday."
"It's more fun that way, though." Mafuyu tucked his legs up under himself. "Besides, I haven't been to the beach while it was hot out." A biting wind and fluttering scarf flashed in his memory.

Ping! Uenoyama’s final ring toss bounced, fully upright, off the empty white bottle. He slapped his forehead with the heel of his palm.
“Uugghh, I suck at this,” he said, letting his head fall back as his hand slowly slid down his face, catching on his mouth and chin for dramatic effect. He glanced to his left to watch Mafuyu’s final toss.
It grazed the lip of the bottle but didn’t stick the landing. Mafuyu’s laugh chimed in his ears as he said, “Guess I do too.”Series

Dread crept through his limbs as he realized just how much of an ass he was going to make of himself to Haruki. Shit.
It must have shown on his face, because Mafuyu tilted his head, confusion overtaking concern.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she quickly blurted out, embarrassed. He just shook his head as if waiting for her to move. What a great way to start a 15-hour journey."
Life is about imbalance. It's about darkness, its peak, and lightness - a never-ending circle.
It's about flawed humans who need affection and crave humanity but can only find power. And about a person who, amidst all adversity, heals their wounds. -
