Summary
Mafuyu pushed a few aside so that he could examine them one by one. The lines over the sheets had been scribbled together, markings over markings, edits and adjustments, and in the background were faint lines that had been harshly erased - far gentler strokes pencilled over the top with care.
Theory met reality on those pages. In theory the lines on the pages should be ordered — ordered in the sense that they should give direction to a piece of music, the neat set of instructions necessary to do the job well.
But… in reality…
Life isn’t neat or orderly, Mafuyu knows that better than anyone. And yet throughout the chaos there are a few things: routines and rituals, that Mafuyu can come to trust and depend on. Things that will never change.
