Twice.Or: the one in which Caitlyn Kiramman is a sociologist desperate to prove her worth beyond the bounds of her weighty name, so much so that she infiltrates a Zaunite gym to study the untapped potential of Piltover and Zaun's most discreditable pit fighting scene.

Nervously tapping her foot, Vi went through the accounts and the dozen or so reports. Her stomach growled, meaning her close reading had pushed them far into the afternoon. She waved Ekko off to go get them some grub, and leaned back in her stool at their research.
The robber appeared a few weeks into the proper start of summer. Not all the way to Freljord, but it was definitely the high country. No kill counts-a few wingings by a gun of some sort at long range. They’d announce, fire a warning shot, and either shoot anyone that tried to put up a fight or leave.

Summary
Caitlyn loses herself in her quest for revenge. Without Vi to steady her, she gives herself over to the fight and the darkness, following Ambessa's advice and seeking distraction in Maddie. After months of occupation of Zaun with nothing to show for it, Caitlyn finds herself at the end of her tether. Something has to give, she needs to feel alive again. Going into Zaun alone at night, seeking out the lowest and most dangerous places seems to be the only thing that works. When she sees Vi fighting in the pits of the undercity, a series of events is kicked into motion that the commander has no means of stopping. Her journey takes her through the darkness to face her demons, as well as the woman she'd tried to cast from her life but simply can't forget about.

You're not supposed to find your roommate, best friend, and the only person you can tolerate school events with attractive. That's rule number one.
If you break rule number one, then under absolutely no circumstances should you admit to it. Vi knows the rule; she wrote it after first meeting Caitlyn Kiramman halfway through their freshman year at Piltover-Zaun University.
She has a good gig. Caitlyn is funny, sweet, kind, and she does her dishes without being asked. They have similar courses. Their friends all get along.
Sure, Caitlyn likes to thread her arm through Vi's when they walk, and she always wants to sit next to Vi anytime they go out. But that's just what friends do. So when someone jokes again that Caitlyn and Vi are dating and the taller girl just laughs it off, Vi always laughs too. Because you can find your roommate attractive, but you can't do anything about it.
That is until election results lead to Vi finding a very drunk Caitlyn just sitting on her motorcycle. Outside. In the dark. Where Caitlyn is very much not joking.

There was barely any pause before Vi opened her mouth. She could hear part of her brain screaming 'no, stop, bad idea, shut the fuck up dipshit' but she ignored it like she always had.
"You don't have to. You know- hire a stranger."
Caitlyn looked at her quizzically. Am I really about to say this?
"I can be your blood bag, if you want."

Not the curse it once was- by the 21st century, vampirism had mutated into an inconvenient infection.
Due to their hunger being volatile and, if unsated, potentially fatal for the infected, vampires usually hired a professional "blood bag" to be by their side 24/7 during the months- sometimes years- it took for the illness to pass.
So when Caitlyn catches it, Vi doesn't hesitate to take up the role. Anything to help her best friend until she recovers.

After an attack that put an even deeper divide between Zaun and Piltover, Vampires were forced into exile. Many lived happily in Zaun, but there was always the unfortunate possibility of turning feral. And now there was a streetdrug that increased that chance, even expediting the affliction. Vander and his kids kept the streets safe, Vi being the leader of their group with Vander's retirement to run The Last Drop. But these new ferals are proving to be too much to handle.
Word of the drug is starting to spread and, if it reaches Piltover's ear, then even more discourse and violence will ensue. But Caitlyn Kiramman, one of the last remaining vampires that lived Topside, swore to stop the violence between vampires and humans. She decides the pick up the trail, which leads her to an even better find.
Vi.
Investigations, interrogations, fighting urges, and giving in to temptation breaks Caitlyn's usual cycle of watching from afar.

Vi felt her feet move before she had made the conscious decision to go. Her body followed the gentle command like it was compulsion across the room. Things blurred around the edges until she could breathe in Caitlyn's soft, pleasant smell directly from the source again and not just some lingering traces. She loved her new senses fiercely, so grateful that she got to experience Caitlyn as so much more. Vi only realized how much she had missed the other woman's touch when she reached out to wrap her hand around a slender wrist. There was no pulse, almost no warmth, but her skin was soft, the bones under her fingers fragile and delicate. Vi couldn't help but rub the pad of her thumb in small circles over the place where she would have felt a pulse had the wrist belonged to a human. CaitVi Princess x Knight AU
Caitlyn had garnered quite the reputation for herself among the estate staff, which had spread throughout the esteemed nobles of Piltover. The princess could not hold down a bodyguard for more than a week. Many had tried and failed before the unassuming woman's skills of evasion, and as painfully stubborn as Queen Cassandra could be, she was starting to lose hope. With a war brewing between the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover, she needed someone capable of reining in her daughter's rebellious feats. Captain Grayson of the Ordo Piltover had a rather... unorthodox suggestion - but, alas, beggars cannot be choosers. Just like something out of a cautionary tale, one stormy night, a masked knight appeared at the Kirammans' door. All Caitlyn could think was just how absurd her pink hair was, and wager on how long it would take for her to quit.
Title is based on 'Nobody's Soldier' by Hozier! This is going to be kind of a slow burn with these two absolutely hating each other to begin with so enjoy!

With a small smile, Vi leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees. It brings her face inches from Caitlyn’s, and all at once, she smells it– the right smell, the right hair, the right eyes. Intoxicating.
“You’ve been hearing my voice,” Vi says.
Caitlyn’s lips part, and in that moment, that tiny gesture of surprise, satisfaction settles into Vi’s gut. She knows she’s gotten under Caitlyn’s skin; she saw it this morning. But this is different.
“You’ve been in my head,” Caitlyn murmurs. Vi holds her position. “When?”
“When the sun went down.”

Vi is killed, but she doesn't die. The vampiric community of the twin cities is cruel, and chaotic, and crumbling around old conflicts and new powers. Vi doesn't want to be wrapped up in any of it- she's just looking for her sister. Unless, of course, she's falling in love with the sheriff.
