    Shadow immediately winced at the poor choice of words. He stepped forward, ready to interrupt when he saw how Sonic's eyes dilated and focused with an intensity he'd never seen before on said foot.

    Tails seemed to sense the awkwardness in the air and his mistake, so he tried again with a small chirp. "Sonic, that's not what I meant. I meant that it doesn't even hurt."

    The other didn't spare a glance, instead mumbling, "Yeah, you can't feel it because the swelling has probably already cut off circulation or something."
