And then, in a voice raw with panic, they heard:
“B, you need to come home.”

Clark blinked, not sure he’d heard correctly. B?

But Batman was already on his feet.

“Robin, what happened ” he asked sharply, and for the first time since Clark had known him, his voice wasn’t controlled. It was panicked.

Onscreen, the child’s voice trembled. “I dunno—he hid me, I dunno where he went. You need to come home!”

“I heard of him!” An old man shouted from the crowd, “His own father burned and disowned him! He’s that banished prince!”

A woman’s voice whispered, “He said he’s with the Avatar? I don’t believe an ashmaker would ever…”

“Mama, is he here to hurt us?” a child asked their mother.

Blood rushed in Zuko’s good ear. His scar prickled.

This, he thought as he all but fled the scene, This is the price of being Zuko.

This is what I get for being me.

    -

Or, the one where Zuko has a truly awful time. Oh- I'm sorry, the one where Lee has a bad time. Lee. Right.

Continuation of "I'm Not Angry Anymore". Follows Season 2.

    Summary

Five years stretch between Sokka and that fateful Agni Kai, each one pulling him closer to this moment—the day he finally returns to the Fire Nation. To Zuko. The ambassador position had practically fallen into his lap, and if anyone suggests he'd campaigned relentlessly for it, well... that's pure speculation. This is about diplomacy. Obviously.

But the Fire Nation that greets him isn't the one he left behind. New faces crowd the palace halls, circling around Zuko like moth-wasps to flame. One figure stands apart—Advisor Wang. She commands the court's attention with effortless grace, and more importantly, she stands where Sokka once stood: at Zuko's side.

But this is fine, right? They're just friends. It's good. It's fine.

    Summary

    Zuko is running.

He has never been one to enjoy such activity, though now he desperately wishes he had done more of it, as every breath pulls harder and harder against his ribs as he bolts through the thick foliage.

He is not built for this.

He is a not a god of hunt, or war, or swiftness.

He is a gentle thing. He is budding blooms, green grass, and warm sun. He is relief, and hope, and prosperity, and baby lambs taking their first wobbling steps.

Though being the god of springtime does not help him right now.
