“I feel as if I’m not quite myself,” Viktor says.
Jayce is quiet, and the silence stretches between them. When Jayce finally speaks, he says, “I don’t feel like myself either.”

When Viktor finally asks why Jayce stayed behind inside the Anomaly with him, Jayce stares at him as though he’s supremely disappointed by the question— as if Viktor has betrayed his own brilliance by asking something so irredeemably stupid. “How could I not? We’re partners.”
Partners, Jayce calls them. Not for the first time, Viktor wonders: Partners in what?

Summary
“What?” Gu Yiran looks wary, like Zheng Bei is a possibly-not-definitely venomous snake. As he sits on the bed he tucks his hair behind his ear, drawing attention to his slender, elegant fingers. He has scholar’s hands, not broken from fighting, or chapped from work.
A beat too late Zheng Bei shakes himself to snap out of his daze, and says, “Nothing. I’m just glad it seems like you’re feeling better. You had me a little worried, just then.”
Then, as if he is doing it on purpose just to fuck with Zheng Bei, Gu Yiran’s ears flush pink. For a moment his face is an open book — just for a moment, he looks sincerely shocked that Zheng Bei would worry for him, and the knot behind Zheng Bei’s sternum twists tighter at the realization. How long, exactly, has he been this alone?
An exploration of That One Stakeout Scene from Episode 23, because, well, come on. Do I seriously even need to explain myself? Have you seen it?

“My god,” says a familiar voice, “Clearly the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was the ceiling, Yaoyao. He’s been unconscious in a hospital bed for two days. Do you really think he cares about the bureau flower when he’s in that state?”
Gu Yiran’s mouth goes dry. He turns his head to look to his left.
Or: After his rescue from Qin Yi, Gu Yiran wakes in the hospital with Zheng Bei at his bedside, and neither of them have their respective epiphanies.
