It was cruel, the way Beomgyu’s fingers guided another bite of sugared peach between his lips the same time his words poisoned him.
“You’re hormonally sterile, aren’t you?”
Taehyun’s world was ripped from underneath him despite Beomgyu sucking his thumb into his mouth, eyes locked on his innocently. It was just a question, and Beomgyu was just asking, around a mouthful of soft peaches and curiosity.
Summer droned around them, sweat prickling their skin and the wind far too lazy for the heat, while Taehyun remained silent. There was nothing he could do to peel the shame from his skin or erase the words that had been spoken into the humid air.
The fingers that intertwined with his were soft, albeit a little bit sticky. The touch of companionship.
“Even if you are...” Beomgyu whispered with warmth in his eyes. “Soobin worships you.”
As if Yeonjun doesn’t worship you… Taehyun thought as he forced a small smile. Difference was, Beomgyu was vibrant in ways Taehyun could never be.A story told between pages of Taehyun’s insecurities while he learns how to be loved wholeheartedly.

And so here Taehyun is, in a coffee shop that he and Kai used to go to all the time during college and in Kai’s eyes, all Taehyun sees is a cautious friendliness. Like Taehyun, at the end of it all, is just an old friend who Hueningkai lost touch with when his band found fame and fortune and rocketed into the stratosphere where no one else could follow.
Or, Hueningkai and Taehyun meet up after five years.

Soobin,
The whole of this week, Taehyun and Kai have been acting strange, to say the least. I’ve never seen them talk to each other, but every time I look over at the breakroom, they’re standing there. Together, for whatever reason. The coffee is not that good.
Of course, I’m not saying that means anything. But I’m not saying it means nothing, either. I wonder if they can keep this up throughout the retreat next week. If you’ve heard anything about this, let me know. I’m going to figure it out anyway, though.

“Pity Purgatory?”
“Yes.” Taehyun looks away from his computer for a moment to stare Beomgyu in the eyes. “You’re here because you died a premature death that was… undignified.”
“You mean I died because of something stupid.”
