Tom pursed his lips.
“Are you trying to strong-arm me into hanging out with you on Valentine’s Day?”
“Anti-Valentine’s Day,” Greg corrected. “And yeah, I guess I am?”
Tom scrunched his face up, skeptical. He chewed his lip, studied Greg for a long moment, then said, “I’m going to need more details. What the fuck does an Anti-Valentine’s Day party entail?”
“Okay, well, basically imagine all the traditions of Valentine’s Day. Uh, cards, expensive gifts, nice restaurants…”
“Hearts, Hallmark, champagne,” Tom listed.
“Yeah, exactly!” Greg spread his hands, palms up. “Basically, we just do the opposite of all that.”

Guillermo’s breath shakes as he exhales. The grate is thin, so thin that a determined man could crash through it and wrap hands around his neck, force the life out of him. “You feel guilt.”
“Why now? Why at all? Why— fuck-ing hell.” The last bit comes out as a pained gasp, and Guillermo can see the man’s head duck, his shoulders hunch. “Can we do this outside? It hurts in here.”
