Summary
When Giyuu was four, his mother took him and his sister to see the ocean for the first time.
It’s only six months before her death, six months before he and Tsutako became orphans, and if Giyuu is honest, his memories of that day have long since faded. He knows they took a train, knows Tsutako was the first to rush into the water still warm from summer’s fading light. He knows he was more reluctant, that he held his mother’s hand while he watched the waves crash upon the shore.
“Are you afraid?” she asked, her frail fingers carefully intertwined with his own. Giyuu shook his head. “No? I didn’t think so. Do you not want to swim then?” He shook his head.
“I want to stay with you,” he said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Together they walked across the beach, the ocean eagerly nipping at their feet. Eventually Giyuu will swim, eventually the water will take him as her own. But not today.
Today he was his mother’s son.
Blood in the house. Blood on the mountain. Blood in the water.

Summary
Most of all though, he built himself with stories. Especially the way he told them—but they were only stories. He had too many; take the scars for example. Giyuu knows that the people who hear that story have to think it’s false, but at least they’re entertained. He secretly thinks it’s a relief not to hear the real story. People took one look at the horror sweeping all the way up from his wrists to his shoulders and they had to take a deep breath and wonder do I really want to know what happened here?
“In my experience though, most people don’t.”
“Don’t what, Giyuu?”
“Don’t want to know.”In his experience, people looked away. His stories actually helped them look away. They might’ve even helped him look away.

The war is over and Sanemi tries to make a life for himself, but soon he realizes that something in him calls to the dark and he is becoming lost. He reaches out to Giyuu, despite the fact that they have never been friends. Maybe it is because they fought the same battles and lost the same people. Or maybe it’s because they are both on a very short list of people who share the same curse.

To be a Demon Slayer is to protect the living, but to be a Pillar is to carry the dead. The other Pillars see the way the two of them carry their dead: Tomioka Giyuu and his two haoris, Kochou Shinobu and her two faces. Under the light of two moons, the wisteria tunnels and flutters in waves across the preserved landscape.
But at the end of the day, the spell will lift. The mask is not foolproof. Come morning, even wisteria still burns.

“You never cease to surprise me Giyuu,” she mused, trailing her fingers down his arm and into his open palm. “Sometimes I think I have you figured out, but then I turn a page and there is more. Was everything always there underneath this inscrutable face of yours?” she asked, placing her hand on his cheek.
He turned to kiss her palm, exhaling warm breath, taking a moment to think about it.
“No,” he said, the word caught in her hand, before he turned to her with a searching look. “And yes. I built up walls trying to control my grief and my guilt. After a while, I just couldn’t access pieces of myself.”
“Hmm,” she murmured, smoothing his hair away from his face. “What brought down your walls?”
He leaned slightly into her touch but looked away over her shoulder before he answered.
“Tanjirou. And Nezuko. When I found them in the forest on the day she was turned into a demon. They were the beginning.”Series

Summary
If there is one thing peculiar about Kibutsuji Muzan, it would probably be his fear of fire, Nakime is sure.
She doesn’t understand until one day she sees him stray too close to a fire while in disguise in human company. The fire reaches out as if it has hands, roaring as it wraps around Kibutsuji’s foot. The fire wants to pull him in, wants to drag him into the embers and burn him forevermore as he regenerates, unable to die. Nakime can feel it in her bones. The fire wants him to pay for ripping all those families apart. It is fat with prayers, full of the power of his believers.
It frightens her, this fevor, as Kibutsuji cuts off his own leg and scrambles away from the roaring flames as the humans around him scream at the sight.
Nakime shivers.
Muzan is afraid of fire. There is a reason for that.
Tanjiro is a god and the Demon Slayer Corps prays.
