Summary
There was a noise on the steps behind them. “This is the last one. I’ll leave it with the others and head out since Stiles should be here soon.”
Stiles cocked his head to the side as he saw Derek coming down the stairs with a giant box in his hands. “Derek?”
“Oh, Stiles. You’re already here.” Derek lifted the box to cover his rapidly reddening face.
“I know why he’s here,” Stiles said pointing to his father. “And I know why I’m here. But why are you here?” Turning to his father, he added, “Dad, why is Derek here?”
“Derek was just helping me get the Christmas decorations out of the attic,” John said.
“And like I said,” Derek said quickly. “This is the last box, so I’m just gonna--” He pointed to the door, grabbed his jacket off of the couch, and ran outside.
Stiles stared at the door with his mouth open for several minutes.
“Dad, why was Derek here?” Stiles asked again.

“Stiles! Stiles!” Scott screamed from the passenger seat. “Brake!”
“I’m trying!” Stiles yelled back, panic in his voice.
The jeep slid down the icy driveway and came to an abrupt stop with a loud crack. Stiles face stung from hitting the steering wheel.
“Oh, shit,” Stiles whispered.
“Oh, shit,” Scott agreed.
“Shit, shit shit!” Stiles was getting louder. He unbuckled his seatbelt and hopped outside. The jeep was resting against the camaro, and while there didn’t appear to be any damage to the jeep, the camaro’s bumper was severely dented and the remains of one of the taillights littered the ground beneath.

“Come on,” Stiles said. “You know you’re genetically predisposed to find me irresistible.”
“I hear scientists are making excellent progress with gene therapy,” Derek said, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh, please,” Stiles said, waving his hand sarcastically. “Scientists can’t do shit about this.” He gestured between them with his finger. “We’re virtually soulmates, and you know it.”
“Virtually,” Derek whispered to himself, giant smile spreading across his entire face.
The next two hours passed with Stiles winding lights around the branches of the tree in the corner and then asking Derek to fix it when he inevitably got tangled after each branch. Derek happily obliged, helping each time with a smile.
