Summary
“Single?”
Sanji nodded with a frown. “Soulmate-less.”
Zoro furrowed his eyebrows.
“I’ve never heard them,” Sanji explained, following the same script he’d been using for the last 4 years. “Their world hasn’t flooded my ears once.”
Surprisingly, Zoro skipped the usual look of pity that Sanji was used to, as well as the encouraging life-coach speech about love finding him when he’d least expect it. Instead, he nodded in what impossibly felt like understanding.
“I’ve only heard mine 4 times,” he said, waving it off.

In a world where soulmates can hear each other when they're most happy, Sanji has heard nothing but radio silence. On his last night of college, Sanji's loneliness comes to a head with the help of psychedelics, new faces, and a beach house rave.

Oh to have thoughts so overwhelming and loud you'd miss the quiet sounds of happiness of your soulmate this is actually great
Also love how the crew knew they were meant to be and tried to set them up from the start
soulmate aus manedit(9/03/2026): didn't even reread it's so fresh in my mind the concept is so absolutely sad and also beautiful how they eventually find each other in the end yk??

Summary
“Come on, kid,” someone says, rubbing his sternum with bruising fingers. Dennis desperately tries to swat the hands away, the bone already sensitive from the weight of the patient from just moments ago. “Open your eyes, Whitaker, come on. Look at me. Open your eyes.”
He twitches, his limbs flexing in odd and tight angles as he tries to expel the memory of the pain. He tries to speak, not to answer the question but to ask for help, help, anyone, anyone at all, his mom or one his brothers or the youth pastor who gives him bandages when no one is looking, just, God, please, please—
The best Dennis can manage is a deep gurgle from his throat.
*
When he gets seriously injured after an altercation with a patient, Dennis is forced to reveal parts of himself he would rather keep hidden.

Summary
“Zoro,” Sanji breathes, shaking Zoro and wincing at the pained grunt he gets in response. “At least let me know you’re alive.”
There’s a beat, a long agonising beat, and then Zoro groans. “Fuck off, Cook.”
Sanji can’t stop his relieved laugh.
Or, nothing is worse than waking up to find oneself stuck in an impenetrable absolute-justice cell.

Summary
He only realizes he’s doing it when it’s too late to stop.
He’s standing in the drink aisle of the grocery store, checking the expiration dates on the cans of Coke, mentally cross-checking them with Boston’s away game schedule, and the reality hits him like someone shook one of those cans and popped it open. A snap. A fizz. A mess.
Shane is making space for Ilya.
