Summary
Ares and Thanatos carve out a moment of reprieve in the midst of a battlefield.
The day is bright; the light reflected back from the snow that still coats the ground. It glints off the edge of Thanatos’ scythe, sharp enough to blind him, and settles strangely over his sallow skin.
“Don’t you find it too bright?”
“I…can’t say I’ve ever thought such a thing, my friend,” Ares says slowly. “Although, I suppose that it must be quite different in your underworld, hm?”
“It is far lovelier,” he grumbles.
Ares looks around the battlefield to the blood and the shining armour. Looks to the trees in the distance and the dark rise of mountains sat behind the city. Looks to the parting of the clouds and the sky that breaks through, bluer than even the sea.
He looks back to Thanatos, who watches him with yellow eyes as still as the air. How clearly out of place he is. Far lovelier, indeed.Series

Summary
Right when a pleasant evening seems about to become even better, a mistake causes past trauma to rear its head. This time, Ares has a chance to help fix it.
Thanatos laughs under his breath. “What is this, Ares?”
Ares doesn’t answer. Instead, he kisses the dampness of his hair. Tempers the hungry thing that he himself is. Takes his hand and pushes him out into a lazy turn. Thanatos looks up with amusement as he returns to face him.
How pleasant, the warmth that remains from the waters of the hot pool. How pleasant, the way Thanatos still glows from it.
“You suit this,” Ares says gently, drawing him near again.
“Suit what?”
“Enjoyment.”
“Tsch.” Thanatos looks away. “You are a poor influence on me.”Series

Summary
Thanatos smiles sadly. “Ares—do you really mean to say that you will stop Death?”
How awful a way to smile. How easily it tears his heart.
Before he can think, Ares leans in and presses their lips softly together. Breathes in the trace of the warm-smelling oils that Thanatos has taken a liking to: cinnamon and myrrh, scents Ares now leaves reserved only for him. How long since Thanatos last used them?
He breaks away and sets their foreheads together. Feels the light way Thanatos’ eyelashes brush his own.
“I seem to be doing well enough so far.”If there can be no rest for Thanatos while war rages on, then Ares will restrain himself to ensure that he gets a proper break. (angsty last time smut).

Summary
Thanatos never asked to be the god of death. Such a huge responsibility for a child; it will take time for him to be ready to fulfill his purpose. In the meantime, he must deal with the side effects of his calling, prepare for his future job, and endure Hades' growing impatience, all while developing feelings for the prince of the underworld. When the pressure from Hades becomes too much, Thanatos makes a decision that changes his life forever. He returns to the same world with a different perspective, and must find a way to keep moving forward. Is there enough of him left to save and, more importantly, is there someone willing to save him?
