Summary
In the aftermath of the devastating war between the Stellar Union and the Secessionist oligarchy, a lot has been left in ruins: cities, infrastructure, homes, communities... and people, too. SER-58 is one such person; after being cut down in a hail of gunfire only to awaken on a stranger's repair table an indeterminate amount of time later, the robot is understandably unsure what to expect. Fortunately for SER-58, Rick the robot repair technician takes a great deal of pride in his work.
A thoughtful, exploratory fic following a deeply traumatized robot's journeys in recovery, grief, forgiveness, and love. Readers familiar with my work should note that this story is, er, quite uncharacteristically not-smutty. There will likely be some spicy bits later on, but the thoughts and feelings are the focus, here.

"That is a very popular record, I'll have you know." The man opposite him folded his arms. "By those knowledgeable about the progressive scene in 1970’s Finland."
"I see," Ed said with a grin, suddenly amused by the situation. This man was no threat to their business. If anything, he was a threat to his own business.

Summary
This couldn’t be happening.
His friend Merle, whose ass looked fucking fantastic in that gown, walked with him to the elevator going up to the 74th floor, where his buddy Merle would be introduced to Dale’s parents as his girlfriend.
His hand should have moved from Merle’s hip, but he kept it there, like moving it would make everyone else notice Merle was a man.
