Un futur sans Mikey. Il décide alors de tenter le tout pour le tout pour l’empêcher de commettre l'irréparable, un dernier retour, un dernier espoir pour lequel il est prêt à tout risquer, même sa propre vie.
Malgré tous ses efforts, Mikey doit se rendre à l’évidence : quoi qu’il fasse, peu importe le futur dans lequel il regarde, il finit toujours par se faire engloutir par ses propres démons, par devenir une menace pour lui-même, mais surtout pour ceux qui lui sont chers. Mais alors qu’il s’apprête à en finir, Takemichi se trouve une dernière fois face à lui, prêt à tout pour l’en empêcher.Pour chacun d’entre eux, c’est le voyage de la dernière chance. Dernière chance pour vivre, dernière chance pour guérir.

Le papier lui coupe les lèvres et la langue, parfois se coince même à l’intérieur de sa gorge, et Hakkai ne peut pas se battre, il ne peut qu’avaler, ravaler les larmes qui inondent ses joues et prier pour s’en sortir vivant.Hakkai aurait dû mieux les cacher. Il se souvient maintenant, lorsqu’il n’avait que dix ans, que Taiju avait tabassé deux hommes qui s’embrassaient dans le recoin d’une rue, à la sortie d’un bar ; mais Hakkai n’avait pas compris à l’époque, tous les mots que Taiju criait, toutes les insultes qui s’abattaient sur ces corps suppliants et ensanglantés. Ce n’était qu’un baiser qu’Hakkai n’avait pas vu qui avait suscité la colère de son frère ; mais Hakkai n’était qu’un gamin, il ne pouvait pas savoir.
