It was done. Amphoreus was free.
Yet instead of feeling delight, relief or happiness, Phainon... didn't know how to feel. After all of his emotions had burned along with him to ensure they had a chance at winning, there weren't many of them left to feel. But with the new Dawn, came fragile hope that perhaps things could get better.
And that's when the cracks appeared.
He should have known there was yet another price he had to pay, that his body could never withstand so many cycles. He thought that perhaps he would have more time to finally bask in the sunlight with others, but instead he has to learn to count his days as his mind falls into despair and his body breaks down.
Perhaps the only thing he can do before he runs out of time is... to say goodbye to everyone.

Summary
He turns to Mydei, letting a gentle smile curve on his lips. Mydei’s eyes narrow to slits.
“Hello there,” Phainon greets softly. He crouches down, inching closer. Mydei doesn’t budge, only tenses like a tightly coiled spring. “My name is Phainon. You’re Mydeimos, right?”
Mydei doesn’t respond, lips pressed tightly shut. Phainon’s smile wavers, chest squeezing tight.
“No one’s going to hurt you here,” he murmurs, extending his arm out. Mydei growls. Fear flashes through his eyes for a fleeting second, but it’s enough to have Phainon freezing in place, breath catching in his throat.
(A mishap at the Abyss of Fate leaves Mydei a child whose only memories are of the Sea of Souls.)

"Phylax Phainon greets Mydeimos of Castrum Kremnos," he said before straightening once more, lifting the helmet to slide it down over his head. Once cool metal slotted over the bridge of his nose, he began striding forward again, the daylight already burning away.
The other did not respond in words, and Phainon assumed their brief exchange to be over. The distance between them grew shorter with every steady stride forward. As he again drew closer, it became increasingly clear to him that Mydeimos had no intention of stepping aside to let him pass unhindered, and in a rare moment of rebellious youth, Phainon refused to be the one to take that step as well.
But Mydeimos stood in the middle of that road, arms crossed and a scowl etched onto marble-carved features, and Phainon, having left through the grand gate, was following that same trajectory, the two set to collide unless either stepped aside.
With every stride forward, however, it became increasingly clear that neither would.
Or: A sort of retelling of The Song of Achilles, set in Amphoreus.

Summary
Phainon is just a regular office worker. Sure, the CEO's son, Mydei, hates him and only him, but he has gotten used to simply ignoring all the glares that the other man gives him. But when Phainon gets drunk during a company dinner, he learns that Mydei was the one who took him home.
And for some reason, Mydei refuses to disclose any details of this night that Phainon could not recall. But Phainon wasn't going to back down without a fight.
