“Ed’s? What’s wrong?” Steve said as he put down his plate to put a hand on Eddie’s thigh.
“Nothing,” he lies.
Steve doesn’t believe it for a second. “No, no, talk to me. What’s the matter?”
Eddie looks at Steve and sees his worried look. It kills him.
“I- you have to promise not to laugh.”
“I wouldn't dare.”
“I-“ Eddie began. “You know when you ask me if I want to, uhm, do it? And I say I’m not ready?”
Steve nods.
“I-I’m-“ Eddie struggles a bit. Fuck it. “I’m a virgin , Steve.”
Eddie turns his head away from the other man so as to not see his look. It’s over right now, isn’t it?

“You know,” Eddie starts as he turns his head to look away from Robin. “I really fucking wanna kiss Steve.”
Robin blinks as she thinks about what Eddie just said. “You-you what?”
“I wanna kiss Steve! I wanna kiss his stupid fucking face. Those pretty fucking lips. All plump and soft looking. He’s just so fucking pretty, Rob. His hair, his freckles, his eyes, just everything about him is just so, perfect and pretty. I mean, I guess if he’s called ‘The King’ then he has to be perfect,” Eddie finishes.
Unbeknownst to Eddie, Steve was not with the kids. In fact, he was standing in the hospital room, with Eddie and Robin, listening.

“Woah, hello.” Steve’s hands fly off Eddie’s body, raising them to the air like he’s been caught red handed. Ass handed? Brown handed? No, that’s gross.
“Don’t fucking pout at me.”

“You look like I just ran over your dog!”
Steve’s disappointed expression smooths into feigned nonchalance, lips pursed as his eyes drift over Eddie’s shoulder, even though he looked awfully devastated over the concept of Eddie needing his hands off him for, like, two seconds.
His eyes make their way back to Eddie’s, their gazes locking once more, and– ugh. There’s something mischievous about Steve’s newfound attention. His hand closes around Eddie’s jaw, thumb rubbing circles near the corner of his mouth “Don’t you want to come?”
“I do,” Eddie groans, because his resolve is like ash falling from a cigarette butt. So easy to flick off. “I really fucking do.”
(or: eddie gets wined and dined, then loses his v-card in an incredibly confident and not-at-all nerve-wracking manner.)
