Summary
Robin is beginning to think that she's stuck in purgatory. The eternal waiting room. Or, in her case, the eternal all-day shift at Benny's Burgers, Hawkins' stereotypical small-town rundown, piece of shit diner.
The cycle might be exhausting, a Sisyphean ordeal to lock the front door closed every night knowing it's only a few hours till she unlocks it all over again, but it's a life.
A small one, but Robin's one.
And there's things large enough in it to make it all worth it, Robin knows, as she rounds the bar, notebook in hand full of orders to give to Steve, and fixes Nancy Wheeler with a wide grin.

Summary
Unlike Robin, Nancy has been raised in the wizarding world, surrounded by stories and tales of Hogwarts and the years that her parents had there - she knows exactly what Slytherin is about, and what it means that she has been sorted there. Unbidden and uninvited, a hazy memory of her older cousin flutters through her brain, an image of him whispering to her in hushed tones about how many dark wizards and witches came from Slytherin, about how everyone from that house that he had ever met was an absolute bastard who was only out for themselves. Nancy thinks of Mike, of Holly. Wonders what it means about her that she would still do anything for them even now. Not a Slytherin, not a Wheeler.
She’s not sure if she wants to know where that leaves her.

Summary
Meredith never got to meet Robin when she visited — she’d gone home instead, folding to the insistence of her mother and the enticement of home cooking. Still, she hears about her all the time. Nancy doesn’t talk much about home, but every so often something will remind her of Hawkins. It’s never much about herself — just snapshots and stories of her friends.
“Well, why don’t we find a place for four of us? Apartments would be expensive enough either way. Maybe better to split the rent between more people.”
Nancy gives her an oddly piercing look, seemingly searching her for something, before she shrugs. “Let me ask Rob, but I don’t see a problem with it.”

Summary
They all make it out — somehow. Max is blind and stuck with a severe limp for the rest of her life, and the rest of the them all come out with some serious scrapes and injuries, but they all survive the end of the world. Nancy finds it difficult to believe that it’s all really over, that the creeping sense of dread that she’s become so accustomed to, that she’s built half of her sense of herself around, is suddenly something to be thrown away. It’s an idea that takes a long time to adjust to, to settle into her skin and her hands and her life — that they’re safe.

Summary
She grumbles as dawn light streams through the crack in the curtains. Robin never closes them properly before she goes to bed, always laughing sheepishly and rubbing at the back of her head when Nancy brings it up in the morning. In the evening, with silvery moonlight dappled across Robin’s pale skin as she is laid out under Nancy, fingers mapping every mole and freckle, she usually finds that it’s worth the annoyance. Isn’t even really sure if it’s annoyance she feels when pale sunlight paints the walls pink and peach.
