Summary
After everything with Yuki's song, with Uenoyama coming out, the boys find themselves in the future. They've managed to create a world between them where they are truly happy and comfortable together, and this is them living in it.
Part of my Winter Isn't So Scary series! This one can largely be read as a one shot, but I think the character development is really poignant when you read the whole thing, and there are references to previous works throughout.

"What the fuck is this?" His heart is somewhere in his throat. Morbidly curious fingers click the arrow keys. Mafuyu. Mafuyu, again. Mafuyu, smiling, Mafuyu, with someone else's hand at his jaw and such a sensual look in his eyes that something inside Ritsuka slips.
Mafuyu, held from behind by a boy with sandy hair and warm eyes, twin smiles stretching thier faces.
Ritsuka chokes down a sound.
There's no more languid summer day, no more quiet coffeeshop, no more fluttering warmth in his gut from Mafuyu's gentle attentions. He doesn't realize that he's shaking until his hands ball into fists; doesn't know he's sweating until a bead slips from his hairline and trails the line of his jaw.

“It frustrates me,” Cas mutters, “how the same sensation can feel sometimes good, and sometimes not.”
Dean’s hand is still rubbing slowly down the length of his spine, like he’s petting the valley between the wings he can’t see. “Well, that’s just par for the course,” Dean rumbles. “Sometimes a body wants touch and sometimes it wants to be left the fuck alone.”
Cas always wants touch. At least from Dean. He doesn’t say so. “It frustrates me how much good and bad I can feel at the same time.”
“Oh, buddy,” Dean says. “Yeah.”
(After the perfect darkness of the Empty, Cas finds the world a little...overwhelming. Dean tries to help.)

And then keeps coming back on Thursdays. He doesn’t seem to have much choice in the matter, actually. For the rest of the week, he’s stuck in the Empty, and Dean is left trying to figure out how to save him, how to talk to him—and how to get him out for good.

Charlie sets her beer down hard on the counter, making him flinch. “Are you trying to invent a problem?” she asks incredulously.
“What? No, dude, I’m telling you—”
“Your boyfriend turned down sex twice, once because you were concussed and your arm was broken, and once because he was about to drive out of state to help your brother,” Charlie summarises, brutal and unrelenting. “And you think that, what? You can never ask him for sex again because of that?”
Dean’s been playing catch-up his entire life, and he’s still figuring out the whole “asking for what I want” thing.
