"I'm eighteen! And Derek's not that much older than me," he retorted.
Finstock looked at Derek again with narrowed eyes. "Are you kidding me? That face has a mortgage. HEY! You! With the five o'clock shadow! Get the fuck outta here or I'm coming at you with a lacrosse stick! Don't think I won't!"
Practice came to a standstill as every single one of Stiles' teammates stopped to stare at Derek. Scott, who had werewolf powers and could probably sense when Derek sneezed a mile away, tried and failed to look like he hadn't been aware that Derek was there the entire time.
"Oh my God." Stiles dragged his nails through his hair, grimacing. This was what dying of embarrassment felt like. His face felt like it was on fire. Surely he couldn't hold this temperature for long.
He glanced at Derek, mortified, and Derek proceeded to—clench his jaw and start stalking towards them—Jesus Christ—
---Coach Finstock sees Derek looming near the lacrosse field and assumes he's a creep. His opinion doesn't change when Stiles tells him that Derek's his boyfriend. Stiles tries his best to mediate.

“That place is way haunted, Lis." Taffy says this as if she's imparting some arcane wisdom upon her, not the town's only urban legend. She even develops the same spooky cadence that everyone uses to tell it: “On a dark, stormy night... under the full moon... lightning will strike Bachelor's Grove! And all of those sad-sack singles will rise from the dead to take a living bride and drag her, kicking and screaming, back down into the earth. For eternity.”
Kicking and screaming — yeah, right. Being whisked off to spend eternity with a man who desires her enough to claw his way out of the grave isn't what Lisa would call a horror story. Quite the contrary.
