The floor is littered with bottles, empty or nearly so, some stained with the sediment of whatever drink her fights could afford her. Her curtain is a rag and her window is a hole, her mirror cracked and the joined sharp pieces are rimmed red.
Cait smooths out her skirt. Tucks a hair behind her ear, where it stubbornly springs back out, even now, even like this.
“Go away,” says Vi, deflated, face to the wall, curled into herself.
Cait would frown. But she can’t.
Don’t you miss me?Cait never misses a fight.
