Yoo Joonghyuk stops walking, and turns back at him. In the golden flush of sunset, his eyes are a warm, deep brown. “What did you tell her?”
Kim Dokja breathes out, releasing a plume of white between them. "That we're married with three kids. Can you believe she didn't want to hear about how our youngest is starting kindergarten soon?”
They break up, but Kim Dokja can't afford to move out just yet. Thankfully, Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't mind him freeloading for a while longer. It’s temporary. It’s practical.
It’s also the worst idea he’s ever had.

When he notices the Banger—a fondly nicknamed 1988 Hyundai Excel that's clearly been beaten within an inch of its life—parked up on the side of the road with FOR SALE!!! scrawled over the windshield, Kim Dokja falls in love with it. “Look at the state of it,” he reasons. “They’ll be glad to just have it gone, right?”
“I can’t even drive yet,” says Yoo Joonghyuk, clearly the only one with braincells. He ends up buying the Banger anyway.
Growing up, and growing with you. The moment Yoo Joonghyuk meets Kim Dokja at his new high school, he has no idea that this will be the person he'll choose to spend the rest of his life with.

In the end, they clean up together. It's mainly Yoo Joonghyuk balling up the sheets and gathering their discarded clothes whilst Kim Dokja cheers him on from the bare mattress. If someone's sock coincidentally ends up thrown right in his stupid, crowing face, then Yoo Joonghyuk takes full credit for such perfect aim.
"You were loud today," he tells Kim Dokja. Loud; loud-er. They know what it means. "Did you enjoy it that much?"
Yoo Joonghyuk understands Kim Dokja well enough to know him in this way, and every other. That's why he's the one that gets to fuck him.

Kim Dokja curls up tighter into his ball, as if that could possibly create enough space to accommodate all of Yoo Joonghyuk. All it does is earn him a particularly disdainful look, but he continues undeterred, “It’s because you’re trying to sit upright. You can just lay down over here, next to me. What's the problem?”
Without even turning his head fully, Yoo Joonghyuk shoots him an incredulous glance.
A misstep leads to Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk being trapped into a box for who-knows how long, forcing them to reconcile. They go a bit further than that.
