Nora isn’t wrong on either front—the man is fucking beautiful. He might be the most stunning human being Alex has ever seen.
But he keeps brushing sand off of his ankles as if it’s personally offending him, nose wrinkled as he surveys the shoreline, bag still perched awkwardly on his shoulder.
Alex thinks he looks a little lost, and not in the sense that he doesn’t know that he’s found himself at the beach, but more in the metaphorical sense. Something about his eyes as he looks around with a white-knuckled grip on the strap of his bag, brow pinched on his forehead, makes Alex think he needs saving.
And, well.
Rescuing people is literally in Alex’s job description.
He just gets the bizarre sense that maybe he could be the person for the task.

Alex pulls away and Henry jolts back into his surroundings, head swimming. Space grows between them and Henry stands rooted to the pavement as cars whizz past, eyes glued to Alex’s face.
A small, private smile steals across it. “Goodbye, Henry Fox.”
