Summary
Primary functions are supposed to be useful: survive against all odds; shield one’s battalion; fight until the very last breath.
Cody would prefer anything besides the bleeding heart he’s been dealt.
Or: the General makes plans. Cody follows.

Summary
It was uncomfortable for Obi-Wan to acknowledge it, but the words meat-droid hit far too close to home where Commander Cody was concerned.
Commander Cody is reconditioned before he is deployed for the first time. Obi-Wan has never known him to be otherwise.
No one has any hope for getting him back, not even his batchmates. Reconditioning is permanent. Isn't it? Then a battle gone wrong changes everything.

One chance to fix everything. He could do this.
He can do this.
Obi-Wan had so many questions and very few answers. Just to get better, he’d have to deal with it cautiously - for now, no one could know what’d happened to him - and he had to pretend to be an unremarkable Initiate, while he decided which path he would guide the Order to save the galaxy.
No pressure. He’d been once a GAR High General and he was never behind his paperwork. He could do this.

Summary
"Infinite sadness is what he feels when saying goodbye to Yoda (...) Ben wishes he could do more but he can’t move a rock if it doesn’t want to be moved. The only thing he can do is pray, pray to the Force that his Grandmaster finds his peace before he joins it, that he can find things to be happy about even if the end wasn’t good; because not everything was bad, and there was joy even in those terrible last days.
Ben leaves with a heavy heart and he gives his grief and sadness to the Force, trusting it will be a comfort when there’s no one else here to say to him that things will be okay in the end."

Hiding on backwater Dantooine with no one but each other for company, Cody and Obi-Wan navigate trauma, grief, and recovery, and begin to learn that they're more than they were built to be.

Summary
CC-2224 had been compromised.
That had been the assessment delivered by Lieutenant Piett, the Imperial officer who met the returning Purge Troopers in the landing bay, and CC-2224 had accepted the new parameters and applied them to his current situation. He had been compromised in the field, and that was why his heart rate was tachycardic, his vision was blurred, and he was currently being dragged down the hall by the armpits, his wrists cuffed behind his back so that every step wrenched against his shoulders.

Summary
"The Force needed Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Force needed the unwanted child who had a year and a half of a happy, safe life before his first near death experience had happened. The Force needed the child who grew up too fast, whose life was never meant to be kind, who needed the experience before he was old enough to gain it, because it would be too late by then. The Force needed the child who knew how to be a soldier, how to be a protector. The Force needed the child who was never a child.
The Force created Obi-Wan Kenobi and then the Force remade him. The Force pushed him when he seemed to be at his lowest, but it knew he still had so much will to live inside him.
The Force pushed and Obi-Wan Kenobi endured. That was the truth of his life."
Or: Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes up in the universe where some things are different, but most of them stay the same. He decides to save it from his own universe’s fate before it’s too late.

“Uh,” Cody says, tightening his grip on his rifle. “General?”
“Yes, I see it,” Kenobi answers, his hand flickering to his lightsaber. “I think it might be best if we evacuated, Commander.”
“Yes, sir,” Cody agrees, raising his rifle even though he’s not sure blaster fire will do much against the ways of his general’s mysterious Force.
Or, with a little help from a mysterious artefact in a crumbling temple, Cody and Obi-Wan’s mutual pining saves the Republic.

“Sir, I need you to tell me what’s wrong,” Cody says, battlefield calm, and he can’t help his relief when Obi-Wan pulls the tattered remains of his usual dignity back over his shoulders.
“Right,” Obi-Wan says. “Of course. Commander, as far as I can tell, everyone besides you on this ship has fallen truly, madly, deeply in love with me.”

Cody picked up the voice comm with bad grace. It wasn’t his standard-issue device. “Hello, dear,” he said, sounding exasperated.
Rex blinked, because Cody was speaking Mando’a, which meant Wooley had done a double take but Anakin hadn’t even looked up from the holoscreen.
Obi-Wan goes undercover. Cody takes some calls. These two facts are absolutely not related.

Summary
Javert found he did not find grey to be as comforting a colour as black or white. Black and white: that is how he saw things. All his life, there had not been much thought spared to the shades in between. Man was either good or evil, an upholder of the law or a defier of it. If one strayed from the Lord's path, he could not be reconciled, not in the eyes of the law. Indeed, that is what Inspector Javert had long believed.
But the river looked grey. Jean Valjean, a convict, had saved his life. Things were not so clear now.
---
When Javert falls, Valjean is there to catch him. The unlikely friendship that follows proves strong enough to save them both. But another's love is a difficult thing to accept when one has lived his whole life without it.
