Xia Fei does not sleep.
He dreams: a recurring nightmare that has him in its relentless chokehold, tight and unforgiving. Struggle, struggle, struggle, but all he can feel is the purple of blooming bruises on his neck like the forget-me-nots that grew in summer’s unyielding heat.
Sometimes he can almost pretend the first number saved in his contacts will bring relief the way it always used to, that Vein would appear again as the steady lifeline he was, a raft amongst the tumultuous waters that threatened to drag Xia Fei under.
Or, Xia Fei and the loss of the brightest star in his sky.

Summary
The jacket is a size too big for Chance, and they end up looking like some sort of drenched cat wrapped in a towel. The thought makes him stifle the smallest laugh. “There you go. You need to remember to wear a coat next time, ‘cause I’m not lending you mine again.”
It’s raining, as if the sky disagreed with the act of kindness. As if the sky knew that iTrapped’s end goal would be devastating for the both of them, as if it could already see the ugly supernova of the aftermath.
Chance’s pupils are blown wide. iTrapped doesn’t think much about it as they run their lithe fingers along the furry hood, though he does find it rather endearing. “Thanks.”
It is snowing by the time Chance is lying in the snow, bleeding the white into a deep, steady crimson.

His hands were red. It was a detail he could never forget; trying to wash it off, get Dark’s blood off him, hoping the stream would carry his deeds away, too. It never did. The insides of his nails were caked pink for weeks after, and when Second asked, he’d lied through gritted teeth that it was just a bit of paint. He’d been painting, that was all. He’d been getting better.
He would leave his house again soon, he told Second, and go get a bit of fresh air. It would be good for him. He wasn’t planning on following through with his promise, but that day he put one foot out the front door, stepped out with the other one too, and went to water his tulips.
