"A demon thing?" Rumi whispers. "Probably. Celine always said I had a strong immune system."
Mira makes a face. One that Rumi would've struggled to decipher even if her vision wasn't so blurry.
"Celine… knows?"~
In the immediate aftermath of Namsan tower, Rumi wakes up the following morning sick as a dog. Zoey and Mira help her through it, while also confronting their emotions and assumptions about the events of the last 24 hours.

Mira continued to stare at her shoes, but when her father didn’t speak for a long enough time, she chanced a small glance up at him. He wasn’t looking at her, he was looking at the dining table, warbled reflections of them both bouncing off the glossy dark-stained wood and reflecting back at them. His eyes were wide and wild looking, his nostrils flared. He was literally vibrating with anger, his hands both in fists at his sides. When he spoke next his voice was far from shouting, instead low and deadly, like a predator’s growl as it wound up to pounce.
“Meongcheonghan nyeon.”

Mira is afraid of thunderstorms. Zoey and Rumi find out why.

Sometimes you think the storm has passed...and you're really just in the eye of the hurricane. Mira is about to find that lesson out the hard way, and Rumi and Zoey want nothing more than to be her shelter in said storm, but will she let them?

The sheet of golden silk fills Mira’s vision, a shimmering trap that promises a swift end to any unlucky bug that wanders into it. At its center, a spider perches, legs poised, ready to strike.
It’s not a new sight for her. The shaman spiders congregate in the yard every summer, spinning massive tangles of yellow silk to decorate the sky, and it’s nothing short of breathtaking.
Mira loves the spiders themselves even more than their webs, though.
