In the heat of her vexation, Mrs. Rodruigez had forgotten she was still holding a plate. But now, in a moment of clarity, she seemed to sense the object in her hand, and did something that Kel would never, ever forget. She threw it right at him, missing his head by a mere inch.

Summary
August fifteenth. The date was circled on Kel’s calendar in annoyingly bright red marker, surrounded by exclamation points, stars, and smiles. Finally, after almost a year of failed plans and haphazard preparations, Kel was going to head into the city for the first time, and see Sunny again. Sometimes, he hated how much he loved Sunny. It drove him crazy.
Or,
Kel has been head over heels for Sunny for a long time. But, over the course of the year after the truth was revealed, his feelings somehow managed to get even bigger. Now, heading into the city, Kel is going to spend time with Sunny for the first time since then. He's terrified, but hopeful. Little does he know that Sunny feels just the same.

So, finding himself panicking while locked inside his closet with a clunky wall mounted phone in his lap, all while daring himself to dial Sunny’s number, was not entirely unusual. What had prompted him to be there? Now that was a much more interesting story.
