Summary
“I-” David frowned, “I had a bit of a hard time, after Shane was born. He was born early, and he was so small. I was barely sleeping, staying up to feed him. Yuna felt guilty, I think, being an alpha. You know, Yuna and I, we couldn’t have another child. But you already know that. It took a while for us to uhh-- rekindle the romance”
David cringed at his own wording, watching Ilya's wide-eyed expression. David forced a smile,
“What helped me was- well”, David shrugged, looking a little embarrassed, “When Yuna started to court me again. She would do small things for me, buy me some new clothes, put on music that I liked- that one might not work for Shane. Rearrange our nest, buy new swaddles for Shane.”

Summary
Shane and Ilya once knew each other in what feels like another life. Years later, Shane has transitioned, buried his past and finally embraced his truest self. He comes to McGill to play on the men’s hockey team—only to find his roommate is Ilya Rozanov.
“Sorry—um.” Shane swallowed. “I’m Shane.”
Something passed across Ilya’s face, quick and unreadable. Shane’s pulse spiked, thudding loud in his ears. Did he know? If Ilya recognized him—if something clicked—what would stop him from telling the coaches? What would stop him from telling everyone?
Then Ilya smoothed it away, the moment gone as if it had never existed.“Huh,” he said. “Funny. I used to know a Shane. Pretty girl. Good at hockey.”
Shane’s eyes widened. His mouth went dry. Was Ilya fucking with him?
“Oh—um. I—”
“Relax,” Ilya cut in, lips curling into something almost amused, almost sharp. “You are very pretty, too.”

Summary
Rose had lied when she said this would be “just another reading” to promote Shane’s new chap book... he couldn’t have possibly guessed she was scheming something of this caliber. Something so broad and all encompassing, something that smokes up the room. Something he can’t escape... Now Shane is feeling like he wants to throw all of his books into the bottom of a lake and let it freeze over, because Ilya Rozanov is holding a stack of his own, flipping through pages to find the words he wants to say. Smoking up the room.

Summary
“Don’t–” Ilya starts, already reaching, already cupping Shane’s face between both hands, thumbs warm and tender against his cheekbones like they’ve always belonged there.
Shane’s eyes are big and gorgeous and genuinely curious. “Don’t what?”
Don’t make me look like a lovesick idiot. Don’t make my heart trip over itself for a way out of my chest and into yours. Don’t say it like that—so fucking sincere—like you don’t know how devastating it is for me.
“Don’t butcher my language,” he says instead and kisses Shane’s smile hard, like reflex, like gravity, like there was never going to be another option.
