Johnny’s face had gone bloodless, his mouth hanging open. It took Peter a second for the reason to catch up to him, busy as he was, but then it hit him like the proverbial freight train: he’d said it himself, after all. He made a poor sacrifice because he wasn’t a virgin.
Johnny, apparently, was.

An encounter with some cultists leads Peter to an interesting revelation about Johnny that he can't stop thinking about. Another encounter at Security College gives him something to do about it.

It had been perfect, and everything that came after it only seemed to get better.
Which was, of course, when a psychic vampire attacked Rockefeller Center, because that was what Johnny’s life was like.

Peter's lungs felt a little like they had that one time after he'd swung into a billboard.

It seemed natural to fit himself against his partner’s sleeping form, to pull them closer, his hand fitted to their naked hip. They sighed, on the edge of waking, and he made a soft noise: don’t bother, it’s just me.
The cagey feeling in his chest settled. It felt right to be here.
Then Peter remembered he wasn’t seeing anyone, definitely not anyone this toned or muscled, and his eyes flew open.
