Summary
Sieun stood there, frozen mid-step, after answering a call when the white truck came barreling around the corner. The voice on the other end—a nurse Sieun probably had greeted in passing once—had been calm but final: Suho’s in a critical condition, she’d said. The world dulled even as the bright light from the truck nearly blinded him, and all he could think was:
I’m tired. I’m so, so tired. Maybe it’s fine if this is it.
But instead of the vast, never-ending darkness he had expected from the Afterlife, Sieun found himself back at the hospital. He stood at the edge of a hospital bed, blinking, confused. It took him a moment to recognize what he was seeing—or rather, who he was seeing.
Suho was there. Slumped on a chair, looking exhausted beyond belief as he leaned his head on the bed, but he was awake.

Sieun didn’t want to look. He didn’t mean to look. He just had to, though, just. Well, what if? Just in case? Suho was mid-laugh, rolling his eyes like it was no big deal. “If you insist!”
“Come on,” someone whined.
And then, he did it. Tugged up his sleeve. Right arm. Right forearm.
Sieun saw it before his brain caught up. Curved in the same way his mom used to trace it when she still liked Sieun enough to be affectionate. The same scar as Sieun’s.
Or the one where Suho suggests they go on dates for a week to find out if being soulmates is enough to make them work.

He still obsesses over the concept of time. It’s a vicious, doomed cycle. He wastes it, loses it, and then some. He pulls strength from his core and forces it out, past the resentment and anger. Sieun, like a lifeline, pulls him back when he strays too far. As soon as Suho can stand on his own feet, his only way forward is to follow him.
