Langa lies down again, knowing he’ll be scattered in bruises tomorrow, same old, same old. The concrete is still heated from a blazing hot August day, and he closes his eyes for a moment to let the warmth seep through his clothes. He already misses Reki, but what else is new? He always does when Reki’s not by his side. How would he ever survive it if he had to leave?

That whole feelings thing is hard, especially when you’re Langa Hasegawa, 18-year-old future pro skater and probably, maybe, Reki’s boyfriend. They’ve never actually talked about it though. There’s also the fact that Langa got an offer he can’t refuse, and he doesn’t know what Reki might think about it...

What did David do on Sundays before everything went down?
On Matteo’s good days, it was probably lying in bed naked, watching some stupid new Netflix show Matteo was currently obessed with, only interrupted by occasionally making out or a little nap.
On Matteo’s bad days, basically the same, but with more clothes and naps and less making out.
Towards the end, there were a lot of bad days.

Izzy looks over at Stede, gingerly attempting to coo at a cat that hates him while she shreds his expensive, fancy slippers to pieces. His heart aches in a new and terrible way that has nothing to do with Ed, for once. ‘If you’re sure.’
The smile Stede gives him is warm, a weighty significance to it that Izzy doesn’t know how to read. ‘I am.’
Or, Izzy finds himself at the centre of the ocean's weirdest found family, and acquires two boyfriends along the way.

The toe thing is not going well for Izzy. He has taken his usual attitude to self-care, and if Blackbeard doesn’t find someone to remove the leg, he will be down a first mate. Unfortunately, the nearest thing to a surgeon within 100 miles is Roach, so on top of everything else, an awkward reunion with Stede is on the cards.
Izzy reacts to losing his leg with exactly the amount of patience and good grace you would expect, and it affects morale to the extent that the captains (yeah, the reunion went well) are forced to take desperate measures: an all-crew workshop on how to cheer him up. Izzy doesn’t do cheerful. But, forced to confront the fact that his usual methods of interacting with the world no longer work – and never did, really – he might just have to change to survive.
(Also, there’s a magic potion from an otter witch.)
