Summary
Ghost refused to meet any of their gazes. Could feel the judgement in the silence that stretched between them. He was covered in blood and mud; his mask was skewed in place. The pain in his side was relentless, yet he stood straight like a plank. He saw his subordinate die; he left his subordinate's mate in a separate room and walked out without uttering a _single_ word of comfort—instead, the two fought like rabid dogs.
“Don’t ignore your mate!” Roach’s voice was way closer. Ghost didn’t even realize the younger one moved. Blinking up at the omega, Riley let himself show the incredulity in his eyes. “Your what?” His voice was full of ice, prickling even his skin hidden beneath thick layers of warm clothes. Roach’s expression cracked briefly before he steeled himself once more.
“Care to explain, _Sergeant_ Sanderson, what just left your mouth?” Riley pushed out through his gritted teeth.

Summary
The man whispered right by his ear, his right hand gripping Roach's jaw painfully. "Do you know how easy it'd be to wring your neck loose like this?" A finger ran down the side of his throat to the juncture between his shoulder and neck.
Roach's heart skipped a beat. The moment Ghost drove an injection deep into Diver's neck, flashing like an alarm, in the back of his mind. His breath caved. In the moments of anticipation of piercing pain, Roach closed his eyes, steeling himself.
"Take your hands off of me," Roach ground out. In response, the hand gripping his jaw tightened, making the omega whimper in pain.

What he worried over was the date. It was March 10.

Summary
He stopped in front of the double doors, clutching his handgun, and adjusted his cap. The screech of the alarm faded into the background, replaced by the rhythmic pounding of his own heartbeat and the faintest shuffle of footsteps.
Let me at them... His Wraith growled, deep inside him.
He counted: one... two... three... and kicked the door open. Time slowed, gun trained in front of him, finger on the trigger. He dispatched the first two armed security guards, already turning toward the staff staircase. They fell like overripe plums. Bursting on impact, splattering their juices. Ghost stepped over them, steadily, his breath even for the first time since he lost sight of Roach.
