   Summary

   It's something of an unspoken commandment that when you hear the SOS beacon, you respond, no matter what. Grace knows this. He knows that it might jeopardize the mission, but he can't leave someone in danger. He can't.

   Through a bunch of coincidences and the author pulling many worldbuilding strings, the Hail Mary picks up a faint distress signal and goes to investigate. When it does, what should it find but an ocean of blood on a tiny moon drifting in a starless void.
